CLUB #24 - ABOUT US:

Our club has been meeting every week since 1934. Today, we are fortunate to have a strong group of active members and are always looking for more, dedicated individuals. Guests are always welcome to observe or participate for as long as they feel comfortable.

The Mission of a Toastmasters Club is to provide a mutually supportive and positive learning environment in which every member has the opportunity to develop communication and leadership skills, which in turn foster self-confidence and personal growth.

At a Toastmasters meeting, members learn by speaking to groups and working with others in a supportive environment. A typical Toastmasters club is made up of 20 to 30 people who meet once a week for about 2 hours. Each meeting gives everyone an opportunity to practice organization, leadership, and public speaking.

Conducting meetings: Each meeting has a different schedule and members rotate through the responsibilities each week. Meetings usually begin with a short business session and each member explains the duty they will fulfill for the evening.

Table-topics:Everyone gets a chance to speak at a Toastmasters meeting. "Table-topics" allows members present one- to two-minute impromptu speeches on surprise topics.

Prepared speeches: Members are free to speak on a topic of their choosing with objectives provided by Toastmasters International manuals, such as entertainment, inspiration, informative, persuasion, and using techniques of organization, vocal and gesture variety, attention getting mechanisms such as visual and other aids. This, together with the greatest support group that you can imagine.

Constructive evaluation: Every prepared speaker is assigned an evaluator who points out speech strengths and offers suggestions for improvement.
